Accounting and Tax Preparation firm is seeking an accounting assistant. We are seeking a candidate who thrives while working independently in a fast-paced environment that presents new challenges frequently. Summary of Responsibilities
In this position, you will be expected to perform daily bookkeeping functions for clients in both their offices and ours. This involves working closely and professionally with clients. You will be responsible for recording banking transactions within established systems and procedures, keeping accurate and complete statistical, financial, and personnel records, as well as processing clients’ payroll.
Essential Functions
- Verifies, classifies, and enters details of transactions into the accounting system.
- Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Attends to relevant client errands such as mail pickup and banking tasks.
- Completes monthly banking and credit card reconciliations.
- Processes routine and bonus payroll for multiple clients.
- Research and resolves, where possible, accounts payable and accounts receivable discrepancies.
- Compiles appropriate schedules and reports as requested.

- Competency with QuickBooks and Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. However, the role may be performed in various offices. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets and multi-function printers.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, however part-time hours would be considered for the right candidate. Typical days and hours of work occur during the time frame of Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed.
Travel
Travel between work location and clients is expected for this position. As such, business mileage is reimbursable. Primary work locations are in the Glenville/Cashiers area.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma plus previous experience. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
Experience:
QuickBooks: 1 year (Preferred)
Bookkeeping: 1 year (Preferred)
