Position Purpose:
We are seeking an Access Counselor to provide assessments, case management and admission planning services in an ethical, legal and moral manner within a safe and therapeutic environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
Schedule: Mon.-Fri.; 8AM-5PM; On-call Rotation
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field plus and two years addiction treatment experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Master's Degree preferred; Second level clinical license required for Therapist title.
- Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (tCADC/CADC/IADC/IAADC) or obtain within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated clinical competency in assessments and admissions.
- Adequate written skills to accurately complete required documentation within the time frames prescribed.
- Complete Iowa DHS Dependent Adult & Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within 30 days of start date.
- Proficient working with Microsoft Office products.
- Bi-lingual skills (preferred).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Handle all First Contact calls and assess telephonically to determine appropriateness for treatment, level of care, and special needs.
- Schedule and conduct assessment interviews with potential clients and their significant others.
- Formulate initial diagnostic impression and appropriate recommendations for level of care placement.
- Provide case management and counseling services to assigned clients.
- Utilize intervention skills as required to place the client in the appropriate level of treatment services.
- Maintain knowledge of community, school and recovery resources in order to make appropriate interagency referrals as required.
- Provide networking, linkage and follow-up with referral sources.
- Maintain communications with all staff (e.g. assessments, admissions).
- Meet with all individuals being admitted to inpatient treatment and provide warm hand-off to admissions clinician whenever possible.
- Have Client Accounts Representative meet with the client if needed to discuss co-pay and get down payment when appropriate.
- Confirm that client has medications and appropriate medical records needed for admission.
- Conduct pre-certification call for insurance if needed.
- Notify appropriate staff of client status during admissions process.
- Ensure that client health records are maintained consistent rules and regulations.
- Assume on-call responsibilities as scheduled or when necessary.
- Serve as a member of the Access Team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
- Understand and comply with all principles established by the Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
- Perform all responsibilities in compliance with the mission, vision, values and expectations of Rosecrance.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
- Serve as a role model for other staff, clients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance.
- Assume other related responsibilities as assigned by management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Based on education, experience and credentials
- Starting rate for Bachelors - $21.11/hour
- Starting rate for Masters - $24.44/hour
- Additional $.50/hr with CADC certification
- Additional $1.50/hr inpatient differential
