Job Description Summary:
Advising, admitting, and supporting prospective and current students for the KUMC School of Nursing.
Job Description:
STUDENT SUPPORT : Provide academic and developmental support to traditional undergraduate students in the BSN program. Advise current students through the practical aspects of enrollment each semester, i.e. course scheduling, prerequisites, and sequencing. With the Educational Programs and Outreach Manager, implement student programming to support student performance and community within the School of Nursing. Support other activities of the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management such as admissions, graduation checks, GPA calculations, and student records management.
RECRUITING: With the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management team, participate in the recruitment and admission of nursing students for all programs in the School of Nursing. Represent the School of Nursing as needed at career days functions when recruitment staff are unavailable or as appropriate. Correspond with and advise prospective students with questions about admissions processes and standards.
OTHER DUTIES : Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, implement Orientation for new and returning prior to the start of each academic year. Support ceremonies (such as Commencement) as needed for SON. Assist the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management with assigned projects.
Required Qualifications:
Education : Bachelor's degree in education, communication, or other related area.
Excellent skills in communicating with the public
Experience in recruiting students, personnel or other related areas.
An understanding of higher education.
Availability for some travel and limited evening and weekend assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education : Master's degree in higher education, nursing, or other related areas such as communications, liberal arts or journalism.
Experience in evaluating applications to nursing programs including academic performance, prerequisite coursework, and application essays.
Experience in admissions and recruitment for nursing programs or higher education.
