SUMMARY

Catholic Charities has an opening for the position of Youth Case Manager in its Refugee and Immigration Services Department. This position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and located at the Catholic Pastoral Center at 2806 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. Hours are generally 8:00am-4:30pm though flexibility may be required outside of these hours.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enroll newly arrived refugee children in school.
  • Conduct School Readiness classes for children.
  • Provide school orientations for parents.
  • Serve as liaison for MNPS and Rutherford County Schools.
  • Provide case management services specific to schools including IEPs, etc.,
  • Educate parents regarding benefits of early childhood education and assist in enrolling preschool children in such programs.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation in Salesforce.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and planning sessions with the team.
  • Assist other team members on an as-needed basis.
Requirements:


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in social work or related field (or relevant experience).
  • Experience working with children in group and family settings.
  • Prefer candidates with prior experience working with refugees.

OTHER SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed principles.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to facilitate intercultural communication and to create an environment where differences are respected.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, curtesy, and tact in dealing with the public and staff.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with extreme professionalism.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to plan and organize work.
  • Ability to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team and independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to transport clients with valid Tennessee driver’s license and clear driving record.
  • Comfortable with meeting with clients in their homes or communities throughout Davidson and Rutherford Counties.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; ability to learn databases.
