Your New Role…

The TLR Advocate works in partnership with LGBTQ2IA+ youth, community partners, and agency staff to create supportive pathways for LGBTQ2IA+ youth to access affirming resources that support their needs and goals. The responsibilities of this role include affirming resource brokerage and referral; case coordination and advocacy; guidance; group facilitation; crisis intervention; digital and in-person community outreach; data input and tracking; program planning and delivery; resource inventory management; special event planning and hosting; nurturing and centering a safer and equitable environment, and encouraging youth to explore supportive pathways to meet their identified needs and aspirations. The advocate works on a team to provide these services both on-site in milieu at New Avenues sites and in community.

Skills and Knowledge:

· Understanding of diversity, anti-racist, and equity frameworks that support the various needs of a thriving community and program

· Understanding of the issues of LGBTQ2IA+ youth, substance abuse, mental health, trauma, abuse, and adolescent development, including brain development

· Excellent communication, organization, creativity, flexibility, optimism, positive humor and overall interpersonal skills.

· Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license

Required Experience:

· 3 years of lived, worked or educational experience in social work, youth advocacy and community organizing

· Experience and commitment to working with sexual and gender minority and culturally diverse staff, participants and community.
