Gillespie & Son, Inc., a family owned and operated business serving the Delmarva Peninsula with ready-mix concrete, precast products, and concrete products, is seeking a sharp and motivated individual to join our growing team in Chestertown, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Meets daily with manager to understand workload and priority of tasks.

- Performs multiple types of welding as needed for the project(s) at hand.

- De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper texture.

- Cut and weld angles, channels, and other materials.

- Fabricate components from specified drawings.

- Operate equipment such as a cut off saw, drill press, punch press, etc.

- Keep workspace and equipment clean, maintained, and organized.

- Perform routine maintenance checks and servicing for various equipment (forms, mixers and batching equipment, conveyors, bridge cranes, air compressors, etc.) at all Company facilities.

- Load and unload material from shop and delivery trucks.

- Delivery finished product to facilities.

- Positively contribute to the safe team working environment by conducting oneself in a professional manner (proper attire, attendance, and punctuality).

Minimum Qualifications:

- Competence to take directions and complete assigned tasks.

- Basic mechanical skills & the ability to read a tape measure.

- Capability to read drawings with or without assistance.

- Capacity to transport oneself to and from work.

- Ability to pass a standard pre-employment drug screening.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

- Previous experience in welding, fabrication, and/or maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

- Stand for at least full 8-hour shift.

- Capability to climb in and around forms.

- Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently several times a day.
