Summary:
Welds metal components together; fabricates or repairs products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders. Sets up welding machines based on job specifications. Reads drawings to determine specific welding requirements. TIG weld stainless steel sheet and thin walled pipe.
Essential Job Duties:
- Reads and interprets blueprints and other specifications, calculates dimensions and prepares appropriate materials.
- Checks the quality of all metal parts before assembling for welding, cutting, or cleaning as necessary.
- Conducts thorough inspections of welded products, visually examining it for obvious defects, and requests first articles.
- Repairs products that are defective by dismantling, reshaping and fusing them back.
- Meets production deadlines; follows routes and process times, notifying supervisor of any deviations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Observes safety procedures at all times and reports any potential issues to management right away.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality (in-process inspection) logs.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Performs these and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required.
- At least 1-2 years of Welding experience is required.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Welding Certification preferred.
- Experience with controls and instrumentation, quality control, and tooling
- Demonstrates focus on quality, and contains sound judgment.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Experienced TIG welding highly preferred.
- Stainless steel welding experience highly desirable.
- Must have good computer skills.
- Good Math, blueprint and schematics interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of tool of the trade: measurement, metalworking, tungsten electrodes, filler metal rod, torch holder.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Safety glasses and shoes are required when actively working on the production floor. PPE specifically for welding will be required.
