JOB TITLE: Warehouse Worker - 1st and 2nd shift

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

REPORTS TO: Plant Operations Manager, General Manager

JOB SUMMARY: With limited supervision, the Warehouse Worker is responsible for the accurate storing, shipping and receiving of product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity. Work is generally performed in a refrigerated to sub-zero environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Unload and load freight with a forklift in an efficient, accurate and safe manner. Identify, by lot number or other necessary means of identification, each pallet of product.
• Move product with a forklift to storage areas with proper equipment and efficiently stage the merchandise for storage in the appropriate area. Place palletized product in storage racks in freezer and record or communicate location to the Plant Office.
• Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise to be shipped. Accurately mark product with appropriate identification and codes as required per customer requirements.
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
• Operate any materials handling equipment safely and efficiently as required. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving and storing functions, as required.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and neat work area. Operate material handling equipment in a safe manner. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.

OTHER DUTIES:

Charge fork lift batteries as needed; participate in physical inventories; perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed; repair pallets when necessary; clean railcars, trailers, truck bays, and warehouse as requested; cut grass, rake leaves, and remove snow as seasonally required. Perform other, related duties as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

The Warehouse Worker must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly. The ability to operate a fork-lift is an important skill. He/she must also be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. The ability to follow directions is extremely important. Familiarity with materials handling and radio frequency equipment is beneficial.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold temperatures, overhead obstructions, adding equipment battery water, and varies chemicals. All Personal Protection Equipment will be provided which include: insulated pants, jackets, face masks, gloves, hard hats, steel toe safety shoes, face shield, and air is monitored by management.
• Generally clean, well lite environment
• Some moderate to heavy lifting (weights can exceed 60#, and can require overhead work)
• Some pushing, pulling, bending, & stooping
• Prolonged standing
• Accurate depth perception

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Education or equivalent
• Prior warehouse/distribution experience preferred
• Prior use of forklift and other motorized equipment desired
• Customer service experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.22 - $22.04 per hour
