What’s the job?
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for all warehouse, shipping, receiving and inventory management functions to include, labor scheduling, storing, shipping, space management/cycle counting and housekeeping. Manage warehouse personnel to attain high degree of safety and efficiency. The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for managing the forklift fleet, plant-wide. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
The Warehouse Supervisor will direct activities pertaining to material management, forklift issues, equipment problems, truck loading, truck traffic, housekeeping, cycle counting, inventory management and management of warehouse crew member’s daily activities. They will also maintain work place organization and ensure good housekeeping practices by holding employees accountable for their assigned work areas. The Warehouse Supervisor will utilize communication and customer service skills, including the ability to read, write and speak clearly, understand verbal and written instructions, and be proficient in SAP systems and applications.
- Knowledge of cycle count procedures and how it can affect inventory and all warehouse functions.
- Inventory storage quality as it applies to wet wraps, identification, torn or missing baggies, broken pallets, standing water and pot holes in the yard areas.
- Assure warehouse lighting infrastructure is operational and functioning for efficiency and safety.
- Communication between truck drivers and warehouse employees must be maintained at all times.
- All inventory locations need to be maintained with the correct inventory to assure shipping documents are accurate – first in /first out should always be the priority.
- Enforce adherence to EHS Systems by workforce, lead by example.
- Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
- Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position SOP’s/JSA’s.
- Enforce plant rules and regulations. Manage time & attendance records, & disciplinary issues of warehouse crew.
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
What do you bring?
- Associate degree or equivalent, complementary work experience.
- Strong computer skills to deliver effective reporting utilizing business warehouse tools and MS Office, SAP and other software programs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Capable of leading a warehouse team and able to define clear vision, goals and service standards.
- Ability to manage projects, work independently and communicate effectively to all areas and levels of the Warehouse team.
- Professionally and effectively problem solve, and remain calm in high-stress situations.
- The ability to shift back and forth between the various functions and multitask throughout the work day.
