Vocational Counselor Job at TEEM Academy
We are looking for an entry level vocational counselor to help people enhance their strengths and improve their job skills. You with work directly with Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) to assist individuals with disabilities who are eligible to receive services obtain, maintain, and advance in competitive integrated employment.
This position is housed at the Louisiana Rehabilitation Services office, and requires adherence to all LRS policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Process referrals and applications
- Securing preliminary eligibility documentation
- Arranging diagnostic assessment for the determination of necessary rehabilitation services
- Assisting individuals with the development of an Individual Plan for Employment (IPE)
- Arranging and coordinating vocational rehabilitation services
- Providing guidance regarding informed choice, disability issues, and employment
- Searching for and coordinating comparable services and benefits
- Assisting with securing employment outcomes consistent with the IPE
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree plus one year of professional level experience in social services, teaching, counseling, human resources, nursing, recreation therapy, music therapy, physical therapy, art therapy, rehabilitation instruction, rehabilitation evaluation, worker's compensation dispute resolution, or job placement/job development involving persons with disabilities.
- Ability to pass a background test
- Ability to pass a drug test
