Vice President - Global Operations Job at SP Industries, Inc.
Reporting directly to the President, SP Industries, the
VP- Global Operations has responsibility for establishing, overseeing, evaluating, and driving management direction for all Manufacturing, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement related disciplines for the equipment divisions in the US, UK and Spain.
This senior-level position serves as an integration point for all functions in the execution of projects and as a focal point for customer interface at an executive level. The VP of Global Operations is responsible for setting improvement targets across safety, quality, delivery and cost; and to deliver improvements by developing and improving the Continuous Improvement culture in all operations. The role is responsible for providing the growth capacity to achieve the overall business growth strategy.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President, Global Operations, is accountable for several key objectives:
- Delivery of key Operational KPI’s (e.g., Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity, Engagement)
- Developing a continuous improvement culture and capability based in visual daily mgmt., standard work & problem solving
- Delivery of projects on time and on budget.
- Providing a high level of customer satisfaction through the PMO, quality and on-time-delivery
- Strengthen the quality management system across the organization
- Lead the Sales, Operations, and Inventory Planning Process (SIOP)
Details of Responsibilities
- Lead all operations functions and strategy to support cross functional portfolio innovation and growth initiatives
- Continuously challenge the manufacturing and supply chain footprint to maximize asset utilization across business units and to optimize manufacturing strategy initiatives across the organization to reduce lead times and create a competitive advantage in customer service.
- Contributes, with Executive Leadership Team (ELT), to understand trends, potential future opportunities, and challenges.
- Ensures planning for short-term objectives and the annual operating plan is influenced by the multi-year strategic plan and objectives.
- Leads PMO and participates, when required, in project status meetings to review schedule, customer satisfaction, and financial performance while providing guidance on action and risk mitigation plans.
- Leverages and communicates key analytics to identify issues, foster decision making and drive accountability
- Directs capital expenditure and asset redeployment activities, controls the human resource cost and growth and provides leadership in the preparation and implementation of effective operating budgets for the division(s).
- Acts as an integration point and cross-over manager for all operational disciplines while liaising with executive level peers to set and deliver on overall strategy.
- Demonstrate unwavering commitment to continuous improvement using ATS Business Management (ABM) to reinforce and build the Lean culture with Daily Management, Standard Work, Problem Solving and Kaizen.
- Motivate and manage a direct team of high performing operations leaders including Lean, Quality, Sourcing, Distribution and Plant Managers.
- Ensures compliance with all pertinent laws relating to health, safety and the environment along with driving a strong safety culture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field required.
- Master’s degree in business or related field preferred.
Experience
The Vice President, Global Operations must have the following experienced:
- 10 to 15 years’ experience as a senior level executive leading operations in a multi-plant, global environment.
- Experience leading a Lean Transformation in operations.
- Operations experience in sourcing and manufacturing large project-oriented systems which take 6 – 18 months to complete
- Facility operations, project management, financial management, regulatory compliance, planning development and global sourcing
The following experienced would be preferred and would be a plus:
- Operations experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has supervisory responsibility for all plant manufacturing, sourcing, quality, PMO safety functions.

Work is normally performed in both a typical interior/office environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and is frequently is required to sit; use both hands; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Travel up to 50% of the time

- Work is normally performed in both the office and the shop.
- The office environment is an interior office with air conditioning.
- The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
- The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
- The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned.
- Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields.
