RVT Shift Supervisor
Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Supervisor to join our team. We are a 10 DVM small animal practice.
We are searching for a Supervisor who can help lead our staff of 70 employees. Our practice is 11,000 sq feet, 4 exam rooms, 2 surgical suites, dental suites, large open concept treatment area, digital radiology including dental x-ray, full in house pharmacy and laboratory. You would primarily be overseeing the Surgery Department, so very strong prior surgical experience is necessary.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
● The fundamental responsibility of the Registered Veterinary Technician Supervisor is to effectively use all available resources to provide the best possible patient care to animals treated/handled by the hospital, as well as to ensure flow of the practice..
● Oversee team members in appropriate areas at all times to assure maximum productivity and service
● Assist in training for team members.
● The ability to work in all areas of the clinic and reflect good clinical judgement with strong technical skills.
● Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
- CONTROLS OVER WORK
Soundness of judgment and compliance with accepted veterinary supervisory practices is imperative. Reports to Practice Manager.
- SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
● Understanding of the critical balance between the administrative and clinic functions in the veterinary health care delivery system and the ability to coordinate resources to achieve a balance.
● Knowledge of hospital procedures outlined in the employee manual as well as those that are implied (reasonable expectations).
● Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation to follow through on all responsibilities in a timely manner.
● Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel), email.
● Strong communication, leadership and motivation skills. Ability to direct, guide and assist a group of individuals including effectively solving problems.
● Ability to show unbiased judgment when supervising staff.
● Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
● Critical thinking - Understanding logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
● 2 years of supervisory experience and License Registered Veterinary Technician preferred.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and listen; may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time; will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel as well as repetitive movement of hand fingers and wrists for computer work; will reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises; exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases.
Follow federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and DEA.
Essential Functions:
● Ability to communicate well, provide strong leadership and motivation to direct, guide and assist a group of individuals including effectively solving problems.
● Regular attendance and timeliness are essential.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
