Position Title: Valve Design Engineer
Reports To: Director of Engineering
Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000 depending on experience
Position Summary:
Our Company has been manufacturing shipboard valves for naval customers for decades. The Engineering Department is responsible for design engineering, drafting and modeling, production engineering, and project management activities. Ideal candidates possess a moderate degree of business awareness along with a passion for the engineering discipline. Essential Job Functions:
- This position requires the ability to understand the technical requirements of our Naval customers and to implement engineering solutions to meet these demands.
- Reviews and executes product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Ability to reverse engineer legacy in house technology as well as comparable industry products to trouble-shoot emergent issues and propose design enhancements.
- Coordination of first of a kind design and qualification activities for new product initiatives
- Development of new valve designs complementary to our existing portfolio.
Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of valve design or other pressure-retaining component design experience. Direct experience with design and analysis of these components is essential.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Must be able to communicate effectively in writing, by phone and face-to-face. Able to provide some level of direction to peers and coordinate various efforts associated with a grounds up new component development project.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge and experience implementing design codes associated with valve design for naval applications (MIL-SPEC) or related robust industry design codes (e.g., ASME Section III).
Note: This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
