Responsible for planning and executing shipping/distribution from warehouses to retailers and customers. Arranges and monitors freight and transportation movements. This position identifies and communicates potential and actual exception conditions while taking action to ensure a timely and satisfactory resolution. Serves as a contact with other departments and shipping locations to evaluate and respond to distribution and delivery service needs.

What you'll do:

  • Using live-routing software (RoadNet) responsible for effectively routing trucks to retailers and customer while taking into consideration customer needs, route and truck limitations
  • Setup, maintenance, specialized execution, and improvements around routing software (Roadnet, etc.)
  • Plan and coordinate on a daily basis between transportation capacity and business requirements.
  • Manage multiple priorities influenced by various business facets (union labor, store requirements, distribution requirements, etc.) to continually achieve the highest level of service at the lowest cost.
  • Address seasonal, holiday, and unexpected levels of activity to provide high levels of service
  • Collect, confirm and record overage, shortage & deficiencies
  • Maintain a high level of service while consistently looking at and reviewing load optimization.
  • Maintain customer information in system regarding delivery times, store limitations, etc.
  • Investigate and prepare in-depth analyses for potential savings opportunities within the planning, routing and delivery execution processes
  • Understands live-routing dimensions and dynamics for all geographic areas and develops cost effective and logistically efficient daily routes.
  • Daily communication with delivery Drivers, processing their delivery paperwork and reviewing driver reports for accuracy and reporting any issues to management
  • Record, report and analyze delivery statistics and truck data such as mileage, fuel consumption
  • Responsible for process improvements in routing based on feedback from Drivers, Sales, Customers, and changes in business needs
  • Manages daily dispatch/routing based on established productivity standards
  • Performs various delivery and warehouse productivity analyses
  • Coordinates with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse and Customers on all delivery issues
  • Monitors, implements and ensures adherence to safety policies
  • Monitors, review and corrects delivery related issues
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Who we are looking for:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Associate’s degree plus 4 years of prior delivery/routing/logistics experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility, or Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of prior delivery/routing/logistics experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Proficient with all aspects of computerized routing including the Roadnet or other routing software.
  • Experience reading and understanding routing manuals, manual maps, and computerized maps.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Required to be physically capable of executing all essential functions to perform the job.
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Fluent in the English language. Experience reading and writing in English.
  • Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.

  • Experience working cross functionally within an organization.
  • Good communication skills, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service and proactively address customer needs.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey geography.
  • Skilled in learning and adjusting quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Proven ability to work well in a high stress environment.
  • Highly motivated, goal / results oriented, and self-starter.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.93 - $30.91 per hour
