About Our Job
We currently have a total of two (2) positions available. One (1) position is located at Manasota Beach and one (1) position is located at Venice Beach. Please note that the positions cover multiple beaches, the locations listed are the main hub location for each position.
This position assists with cleaning, minor repairs, invasive species removal, coastal restoration, event support and general upkeep of the beaches/parks. Performs routine cleaning and daily operational duties, light to heavy physical labor as needed: Supplementing the maintenance and upkeep of assigned parks and grounds; utilizing a variety of basic skills while using small tool and minor equipment to ensure clean and safe parks.
Job Description:

Daily general maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning and upkeep of assigned parks, beaches and water access areas associated with the Beaches and Water Access Division.

This includes daily cleaning, deep cleaning, trash removal, litter picking, and other duties associated with daily upkeep and maintenance, within beaches, picnic areas, parking lots, playgrounds and open areas in county parks, restroom facilities, open beaches, and buildings.

Perform limited and semi-skilled trades work including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other skilled trades in facility and park structures.

Assist with scheduled programs, events and summer camps as assigned. Assist with the setup, take down and operations of such events.

Provide supplemental grounds maintenance including use and care of small equipment such as but not limited to lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, etc.

To maintain the grounds within assigned beaches and water accesses areas. Supplemental natural resource maintenance and project work; assist with volunteer coordination, exotic invasive plant removal and resource management projects as assigned, utilize hand and power tools to perform restoration work within assigned beaches and water access areas.

Required to obtain and maintain herbicide applicators license to assist with spraying of exotic invasive species.

Provide excellent customer service, answer questions and concerns in a timely manner, communicate with supervisor issues and concerns.

Provide visitor safety and protection duties: communicate rules, regulations and generate compliance with park visitors.

Contact individuals who are violating the rules and educate them about park rules and regulations.

Work with supervisors and law enforcement partners on issues and concerns associated with park violations.

Conducts park patrol and secure park facilities, report instances of park violations to Supervisors.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License at time of hire.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
