Physical Demands
Common tasks that may require physical abilities students will be expected to preform include:
- Standing or walking a large majority of the time
- Will be expected to climb ladders, scaffolding, and operate electrical lifts
- May be required to operate university vehicles, including 15 passenger vans
- May be required to lift as much as 50 pounds
- On occasion may be expected to dig ditches
- Moderate heat and cold
- Crawling in tunnels/small places
- Heights (ladders, lifts, bucket truck)
Job Summary
- UA will assist HVAC professional or Licensed Plumber, including small campus construction projects, troubleshooting, campus wide maintenance, and most importantly changing filters.
- Percentage of time spent preforming each major duty, and responsibility are as follows: 70% Deliver, replace and dispose of air filters to assigned building on campus. 15% Clean and organize mechanical rooms, including outside air vent vaults. 10% Walk assigned buildings log temperatures / inspect buildings for water leaks notify UNC dispatch of any unusual findings. 5% Assist mechanical trades with Plumbing and HVAC projects, including fire watch.
- Common tasks that may require physical abilities students will be expected to preform include:
- Standing or walking a large majority of the time
- Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs and able to walk up to 3 miles a day on occasion
- Explain the working conditions of the position including any unpleasant features.
- May be exposed to heat, cold and heights
- Must be able to work in noisy dusty areas and the use of normal household cleaning chemicals.
- All tools and protective safety equipment will be provided.
