Summary Description:

The Technical Trainer is responsible for partnering with other resources to assess training needs and develop training plans for teams and individuals across the Mill. This position will help develop and deliver manufacturing training programs, in conjunction with ND Paper’s other Mills and Technical Training lead. This position requires strong knowledge of various training methodologies, including but not limited to, developing programs and systems, using technology on-the-job training, coaching and mentorship programs. This is a full-time salary position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
  • Collaborate with other training coordinators and leads across ND Paper, consultants, mill leadership, and other resources to develop and implement a comprehensive training program
  • Conduct training needs assessments across the Rumford Mill
  • Develop assessment processes to assess instructional effectiveness to determine the impact of training on employee skills and to modify the training plans accordingly
  • Collaborate with Human Resources personnel to identify and measure competencies for job qualification and progression
  • Facilitate the implementation of a Learning Management System across the Mill
  • Maintain and update curriculum and training documents in the LMS
  • Generate training audit reports and maintain all training records/certificates for manufacturing personnel
  • Provide train the trainer workshops for internal training needs
  • May entail delivering some employee training
  • Work with mill leadership and employees to create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform other duties as requested

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or related practical experience
  • At least 3 years of training experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a pulp and paper industry
  • Proficient at developing training programs and using Learning Management Systems

Required Competencies:

  • Experience delivering training programs using various training methodologies, including on-the-job coaching, mentorship programs and e-learning
  • Willing and able to work with all levels of the manufacturing teams and be used to working in a production environment
  • Ability to be inquisitive and ask detailed questions
  • Ability to follow technical verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time management, verbal and written communication skills
