Technical Service & Development Professional, Plastics Additives
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking to hire a Technical Service & Development Professional for our NA Plastic Additives team. This role will be focused on supporting the entire Plastics Additives business in North America by:
Managing and developing relationships with the technical contacts of the customers.
Being the focal point and owner for all technical matters related to customer work, including opportunities in the pipeline, actively purchased products, and general inquiries.
Assisting with the end phase of the New Product Development process.
This position is located out of our Corporate Headquarters in Spartanburg, SC, and will report to the TS&D Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Support regional sales and marketing functions
Translate customer needs into problem statement and then into experiments to find a solution
Assist customers with product and process related questions and lead plant trials at their locations
Help assess the customer value generated by our solutions and prioritize work with sales team
Work in partnership with the R&D team to deploy new offerings at customers
Help continue to populate the innovation pipeline through market knowledge
Study and stay abreast of new thermoplastic polymers, additives, and applications
Project management and present project status reports to management
Coordinate work with the lab (formulation, application, and physical property testing)
Study the effects of additives on a polymer’s chemical/physical properties and on processing
Travel as projects and assignments dictate, typically 10-40%
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
B.S or M.S degree in Engineering, Materials Science or Polymer Science (or other related technical field such as Chemistry)
Experience providing product and/or customer support, preferably in polyolefins (production, compounding, conversion, or in additives/masterbatches that go into those).
Able to manage a variety of projects simultaneously
High mechanical aptitude
Preferred:
Experience using statistical methods
Concentrate/compounding experience
Additive formulation experience in polyolefins
The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:
Accountability and drive to achieve deliverables
Capable of influencing an audience through expertise in a subject (internal and external)
Skilled in presentation and written communication
Critical thinker capable of formulating hypothesis for problems and developing a work plan
Able to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment
