SPECIFIC TO THE ONSITE WORK

Mission: This position is centered around developing multi-mission payloads for small satellites in support of the Army Futures Command APNT/CFT and the Space Development Agency (SDA). The successful candidate will be an independent, rational decision maker who is also a creative and critical thinker as well as relentless problem solver who enjoys a challenge and working with a high-performing team in a dynamic environment. The Systems Engineer will interface with multiple engineering disciplines, system elements, and stakeholders to help lead the development, design, integration, and testing of our multi-mission payloads.

As a Systems Engineer, you will apply knowledge and expertise to perform technical engineering support and analysis of spacecraft and payloads, including hardware and software assembly, test, and integration.

Ø Customer: Army Futures Command APNT/CFT and the Space Development Agency (SDA).

Ø Location: Huntsville, AL. Eighty percent of this work will be done at one or more office locations, with some opportunities to work from home or remote on occasion. Occasional travel may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing the design and integration of multiple space payload designs
  • Providing systems engineering guidance in the development of test and evaluation plans, system verification plans, and other systems engineering processes and documents throughout the lifecycle of the program
  • Providing recommendations on systems integration and baseline changes and assessing the technical maturity and risk of development projects, as well as and recommending appropriate mitigations.
  • Assisting the program team on potential solutions across a wide variety of multi-domain, tactical, and mission area applications.
  • Developing CONOPs and operational plans at both the system and mission levels
  • Establish system and subsystem functional, physical, and logical architectures and decomposition into requirements, interface definitions, as well as hardware and software specifications
  • Conduct and participate in requirements gap analyses, system trade studies and other relevant technical supporting analyses
  • Assisting with analysis of the design, assembly, integration and testing, and data reduction of technical solutions and forming evaluation criteria for those solutions.
  • Develop plans to on-ramp capabilities while protecting the primary/priority mission(s)
  • Attending and assisting with coordination of project meetings and reviews to include technical interchange meetings, IPTs, design reviews, and program management reviews.
  • Providing clear, concise, accurate, precise and timely analyses and products.
  • Support or lead Model-based System Engineering (MBSE) process implementation
  • Use system design data from model and system feedback data to develop requirements for improved system design recommendations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years' of experience in aerospace or aviation systems engineering for either Government or commercial systems.
  • Experience with RF sensor technologies.
  • Experience with DOORs and/or alternative Requirement’s verification/traceability tools and processes
  • Experience implementing Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts, tools, techniques, and processes
  • Knowledge and use of modeling and simulation throughout a product lifecycle
  • Technical integration experience working with a variety of engineering disciplines and project/program organizations
  • Experience with Requirements development and decomposition, integration, interface definition, and component/subsystem assembly, integration & test (AI&T)
  • Self-starter capable of making decisions and taking actions with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in the DoD or Intelligence Community.
  • Experience in two or more of the following: spacecraft engineering, low earth orbit spacecraft constellations; space-based visible, infrared, or RADAR imaging payloads; inter-satellite laser communications systems, RADAR signal processing, SIGINT signal processing, ground-based mission data processing, spacecraft on-board processing, virtual spacecraft mission operations, US Army and Joint DoD Command and Control systems, and MIL-STD-1540/SMC-S-016 verification standards
  • Familiarity with Applied Agile Program Management methodologies
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following: Jira, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab or similar agile project tools
  • Proficiency with Rhapsody, Cameo with MagicDraw or other MBSE tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Tools to include MS Excel, Visio, Powerpoint, Word, and Project
  • Integrating analysis tools with ModelCenter or similar application
  • Proficiency with one or more Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and Digital Twin/Digital Thread concepts
  • Experience/knowledge of NASA or MDA Systems Engineering policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Space Force and SDA spacecraft, launch vehicles, and programs
  • Evaluation of aerospace or avionics models and applications using Hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Application of launch vehicle simulations, test system certification and software accreditation
  • Bachelor's degree +15 years of related experience, Master’s degree +10 years of related experience (preferred), or PhD +5 years of related experience in any combination of aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university

CLEARANCE:

  • Active security clearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Indoors in normal office environment. May require extensive periods of sitting or standing. Frequent computer use at workstation for several hours at a time. Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,365.83 per year
