Summary of Work Environment and Work Performed:

Staff geologists are assigned specific tasks on the project team, and are expected to use their
geologic background and education, and common sense to resolve the problems and tasks they are
assigned. They will perform geologic logging, soil classification, geophysical studies, monitoring well
installation, soil and groundwater sampling, and preparation of environmental and geologic reports in
conformance with GES standards and client schedules. He or she is expected to coordinate all
activities with the project manager and the program manager.

Essential Functions: Frequency

1. Perform field explorations, soil logging, and soil sampling Daily

  • Perform groundwater sampling; well installation observations & As needed

2. Coordinate with the Project Manager or Program Manager for all field Daily
assignments

  • Collect field samples for laboratory testing and coordinates laboratory As needed
testing with the Laboratory Manager

  • Maintain testing and sampling equipment, and company vehicles As needed

3. Prepare routine reports including environmental, geotechnical, selected backfill, As needed
pavement subgrade and pad certification.

  • Perform research and prepare detailed reports summarizing field work As needed
and observations, using computer drafting, mapping and word
processing programs
  • Prepare geotechnical, geologic and environmental reports As needed

4. Perform geophysical studies, including resistivity, P.M. and seismic refraction As needed

5. Perform site operation, maintenance, cleaning, and field work Daily

  • Produce quality work on time As needed
  • Perform literature review search and review of relevant published As needed

  • Perform routine laboratory tests for quality assurance and non-routine As needed

  • Perform site reconnaissance for appropriateness of exploration (drilling As needed

Desired Outcomes or Results:

Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required or Desirable:

  • B.S. in Geology, or related field
  • Proficient computer skills, preferably including CAD and GIS
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license
  • Proficient understanding of geologic principles as related to project assignments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated to provide quality client service
  • 40hr HAZWOPER OSHA Health and Safety Training preferred
