Staff Consultant, Community Engagement (Entry Level) Job at ERM Group

ERM is seeking a Staff Consultant, Community Engagement to join our Richmond, VA office to provide project support to our growing team.
Ideal candidates will have strong writing and organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, excel under pressure and must be open to supporting large-scale traditional energy projects. Daily objectives include providing project-related support, drafting summaries, developing social media reports, assisting with event and outreach planning and logistics, facilitating stakeholder mailings or public notifications – including mailing list management, supporting stakeholder engagement, and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Social Media Reports, Media Monitoring & Analysis: Perform traditional and social media monitoring and assemble client-ready reports using traditional web browsers and licensed social media reporting tools; assist in identifying social media trends, risks, and offer analysis to support client objectives.
  • Event and Outreach, Planning & Logistics: Coordinate multiple event and outreach schedules, including venue location, catering, and other related meeting needs (i.e., presentation materials, handouts, name tags, electronic support).
  • Stakeholder Management, Mailings and List Management: Research, identification, and data collection for stakeholders including municipal, county, state and federal elected officials and their staff; state and federal agencies; environmental groups; civic and business organizations and other identified stakeholders for each project; manage stakeholder and tracking databases; and prepare reports for client and/or regulatory purposes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement, Communications and Follow-Up: Assist with writing, review and preparation of stakeholder engagement materials and client or project specific information, including newsletters, website materials, event information and more.
  • Other Project Support: Perform various project-driven administrative functions including task tracking, mail merging, proofing, editing, copying, file maintenance, report preparation, online research, scheduling of outreach and stakeholder meetings, travel itinerary management, conference call coordination, management of large printing jobs and mailings, and other tasks as required.
  • Comply with appropriate project-specific health and safety plan requirements during the course of project work.
  • Support other ERM practice areas when needed and perform additional tasks as assigned or required.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS/BA degree, preferably in a communications field of study (Public Affairs, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, Political Science). Or equivalency of 8+ years related experience.
  • Two years of public relations/public affairs/stakeholder engagement experience - internships may apply as experience.
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
  • Professional demeanor, strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize deadline-driven tasks.
  • Willing to work full time in a hybrid office/at home setting and contingent on COVID restrictions. Some travel required (approximately 2-4 weeks per year).
  • Social media/digital experience on appropriate platforms.
  • Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop experience is desired but not required.
  • Local candidates preferred.
