Our client, a well-known Special Education Organization located throughout all 5 boroughs of NYC, is seeking NYS Certified Lead Special Education Teachers to join their passionate team of professionals!

This position does require a NYC Teaching License, either Birth-2nd grade or Nursery-6th grade, with a Master's Degree in Special Education.

As the Lead Special Education teacher, you will be responsible for managing a classroom of students with developmental disabilities ranging from mild to severe. There are MANY openings in all 5 boroughs, to work in different types of classrooms with different age groups, and some student populations will have more severe disabilities, than others. Based on your experience, they are flexible on which classroom you would be placed in.

• Develop and implement IEP's for each specific student in your class.
• Collaboration with NYS Certified Teacher Assistants, who you will be in charge of managing, directing, coaching and mentoring.
• You will have a certain amount of Teacher Assistants to assist you with specific support duties, based on the number of students enrolled in your classroom.
• Disabilities amongst the students can be; Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Behavioral Disorders, Downs Syndrome, Learning Disabilities, etc.
• You will work closely with your Teacher Assistants to support the needs of each individual student in your class, to help with their education progress, daily living skills, communication skills, behavioral issues, etc.
• Must be experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans in accordance with the specific NYS special education curriculum.
• You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the parents/guardians of your students, to support them on continuing education/IEP goals, after school hours.
• You will be responsible for submitting weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually progress reports for each individual student, based on their IEP goals.
• Work one-on-one with the students to get the best understanding of their needs to develop accurate and effective IEP goals.
• STRONG PASSION for working with children with disabilities is required for this role.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with people with disabilities is preferred. (not required)
• We will accept recent graduates with clinical experience!
