SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAM MANAGER

Position Summary: The position collaborates with Covington small businesses, partner agencies and relevant organizations within the community to assist with outreach, technical assistance, and program goals outlined in the ARPA program proposal. Builds and maintains relationships with Covington small businesses and partners. Position is responsible for obtaining program outcomes.
Hours: This position is salary exempt working Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:
- Identify and create a listing of all small businesses located within each qualified census tract (including home-based businesses).
- Leverage the close community connections with local elected officials, the faith-based community, business leaders and other influencers
- Provide entrepreneurship and career counseling and assessment of skills, aptitudes, and abilities.
- Work with marketing specialist to implement a public marketing campaign to specifically appeal to the target audience
- Provide basic technical assistance to eligible Covington small businesses
- Provide referrals to existing community resources to augment direct technical assistance. Based on identified needs of individual businesses,
- Assist participants in accessing available community resources as needed.
- Assists with the development, monitoring and compilation of results-oriented program outcomes in accordance with the NKCAC’s Strategic Plan.
- Participates in work groups as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet program outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Experience with economic development, business, social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, or a related field required or equivalent experience. Associate degree in one of the above fields is preferred.
- Two years experience in economic development, small business development, or in a community-based service setting required. Experience with multi-cultural service delivery.
- Provide own transportation between center locations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by maintaining close and collegial working relationships with co-workers.
- Self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Flexibility.
- Must be able to work with a diverse workforce.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required; as is ability to select, learn, and master program specific software.
- Ability for public speaking is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
