Sign Shop Manager Job at MORGAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT

MORGAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT Martinsville, IN 46151

This position starts January 1, 2023 and is full-time with benefits.

Installs permanent County Road signs according to State, County and Federal guidelines and specifications, operating various tools and equipment, locating underground utilities at sign installation sites.

Manufactures road signs, including cutting materials, making letters, and painting signposts.

Installs/removes temporary signs, warning markers, barricades and cones as needed for road closings and/or construction.

Monitors and maintains inventory of sign materials, including ordering materials and ensuring purchase orders are complete and in compliance with approved budget.

Inspects County Road signs for theft and vandalism and compliance with visibility and reflection standards.

Trims, mows, removes weeds, brush, trees, and branches arounds signs, county roads, and right of ways, as needed to maintain visibility.

Operates a variety of hand and/or power tools, such as hammer, wrenches, drills, power saws, broom, driver, and weed eater.

Assists with road closings and flagging traffic at road construction sites.

Communicates with supervisor on assigned duties.

Maintains daily work records, such as location worked, work performed, mileage and materials used.

Maintains department vehicles, including servicing, mileage records, and cleaning.

Drives vehicle to pick up parts from local and out of town vendors for the department.

Performs related duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED.

Must be at least 18 years old.

Ability to meet all department hiring requirements, including passage of a drug.

Working knowledge of and skill in the operations of trucks and related equipment.

Working knowledge of with ability to make practical application of department safety policies and procedures, including OSHA guidelines.

Knowledge of the mechanics of light equipment, and ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs.

Knowledge of safety procedures for working in/around vehicles, heavy equipment, and/or traffic.

Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, with ability to prepare activity reports.

Ability to properly operate and maintain a variety of hand and/or power tools, including hammers, screw drivers, wrenches, drills, power saws, air nozzles, air compressors, drivers, impact drivers, ratchets, files, brooms, ratchet, and other equipment as needed.

Ability to properly operate and maintain a variety of machinery and equipment, including forklifts, pressure washers, and other equipment as needed.

Ability to physically perform assigned duties, including sitting/walking at will, standing/walking for long periods, driving, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds, handling/grasping/fingering objects, crouching, kneeling, bending, reaching, close/far vision, color/depth perception, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly.

Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.

Ability to provide public access to, or maintain confidentiality of, department information and records according to state requirements.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out written or oral instructions and present findings in oral or written form.

Ability to work alone with minimum supervision or with others in a team environment, and rapidly for long periods.

Ability to prepare detailed reports, such as activity reports.

Ability to occasionally work extended hours, weekends, evenings and travel out of town for purpose of picking up parts.

Possession a valid Indiana driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
