Southport Coffee Co & Kitchen is approaching one year since opening after our major renovation and we are BUSY. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid of an INCREDIBLY busy work-atmosphere (even better if you find the energy of high-traffic tourist-town restaurants FUN!) to come in and learn our limited seasonal menu quickly and WELL. This person will ultimately lead the sandwich line and back kitchen area each shift in creating accurate and quality customer orders in a timely manner, as well as be one of the first points of contact for the owners and also the Front of the House Lead. Must be an excellent multitasker and communicator. If you’re friendly, a fast learner, quick on your feet and energetic, you’ve got potential to be a great fit for our team. We aren’t open late-night, so you’ll get a great schedule with your nights to yourself. Must be available weekends (including Sundays) and holidays. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Duties may include very basic tasks such as packing and running food, but the ideal candidate will have the potential to learn speed, efficiency and accuracy on the sandwich line, as we produce a high volume of high quality sandwiches with shortest customer wait-time possible. Multitasking is a must. Sandwich-making experience nice, but not necessary for right applicant. Must have own (reliable) transportation.

Must be a VERY hard worker…..we don’t like to micromanage, so need people on our team, especially the leaders, who show up each shift ready to keep busy, even on quiet days, with a positive attitude. We have very high expectations. Strong communication skills are essential, as is being able to move quickly whether grabbing something from the back or just running food out to a customer. Friendliness, reliability, honesty and consistently positive attitude are expected. We’re a small (but growing!) team and we pride ourselves on an upbeat workplace that’s nice to come to each day. Located just one block up from the waterfront in downtown Southport, we will have an incredibly busy summer and are expecting a busier than normal off-season and holiday time as well. Must deal well with stressful situations and stay calm and productive (and friendly!) under pressure. For this specific position, there is opportunity for advancement if you come in and just wow us with your work ethic, personality and customer service.

Compensation includes a combination of hourly wage and tip share, with a guarantee that your hourly average during the first 2-3 weeks of training will reach or exceed $16/hour or we’ll make up the difference. After a successful training period, that minimum guarantee jumps to $20/hour. Must be able to commit to a minimum of four months; ideally, however, this would be a long-term position for someone.

Though not necessary, barista experience is a plus as we have several team members who are trained in everything (food and coffee) and that is obviously very helpful. We’re a growing business and have many hours we aren’t even open but could be with the right team. A cover letter or even simple personal statement of interest should accompany your application.
