Travel: Minimal to monthly within the northeast U.S. for Army Reserve location site visits; possibly a few times per year for training/certifications
Job Description
Candidate will serve as a SharePoint Developer supporting the U.S. Army Reserve, 99th Readiness Division (DIV (R)), Directorate of Public Works, CAD/GIS/SI Branch. This position is primarily responsible for providing Systems Integration support to the 99thDPW staff and its customers by developing and maintaining SharePoint capabilities to include page features, workflows, web parts, libraries, and custom objects which best support business practices. The successful candidate will possess excellent critical thinking and communication skills, listening to, analyzing, and documenting business processes while seeking opportunities for improvement. Leveraging Microsoft SharePoint and other data systems, the candidate will focus on merging disparate data collection information for analysis and improved customer experience. The successful candidate will be able to support the customer as a technical advisor with willingness to learn and coordinate new data systems and have a professional attitude, be a self-starter working with minimum supervision, and work with well with Team/ Project Lead staff in the planning of Level of Effort and timelines to complete assignments.
Role & Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical point of contact for incoming SharePoint deliverables and assess whether requirements have been met
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot 99th DPW Portal structure, site pages, libraries, lists, and associated elements
- Regulate 99th DPW SharePoint Portal access and permissions
- Confer with 99th DPW Staff to document and assist integration of work procedures and data usage; provide observational reports for potential process flow enhancements and develop, update, and build fully deployable solutions in the SharePoint environment which assist in data dissemination and work process support
- Maintain and enhance electronic data storage and file naming conventions to improve knowledge management
- Create and maintain SOPs, flowcharts, version controls records, and end-user documentation for all maintained and developed technology systems; assist customer in process analysis to improve efficiencies and adherence with industry best practices
- Create and maintain document outlining the mapping of the 99th Portal and common troubleshooting issues and resolution for internal team reference and tracking; maintain a shortened document for user reference
- Dynamically leverage content housed in various internal and external online resources for use in SharePoint environment
- Monitor SharePoint site and disk space usage; identify issues with technological requirements, upgrades, and improvements
- Chair DPW Knowledge Management (KM) committee with branch/division representatives to coordinate an overall KM strategy
- Draft and update overall KM mission scope based on DPW feedback
- Ensure proper implementation for new systems and procedures developed by providing in-person instruction and training materials to staff
- Support portal functionality through networking, IIS, Active Directory, DNS, and Window Services and features
- Create views to support exportation of master datasheets from the Portal for audit and reference for external parties
Required Education and/or Experience
- Minimum four-year degree in Computer or related sciences from an accredited university preferred, experience can be substituted if demonstrated on resume and through interview process
- Three years working experience with SharePoint 2013 and/or 2016 platforms
- Two years working experience using SharePoint Designer, Visual Studio, and Teams Foundation Server
- Two years working experience with SharePoint hosted and provider hosted apps; the new SharePoint development model - client web parts, JavaScript frameworks, npm, Gulp, Typescript etc.
- Two years working experience troubleshooting, supporting, and/or administering Microsoft SharePoint Online applications/sites and environment
- Knowledge and experience using Javascript, HTML5, CSS – 2,3, SQL, Visual Studio, SharePoint – Online, On Premises
- Experience using Github, API, Bootstrap, React, Git Bash, Linux, Python, C++ preferred but not required
- GISP is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with CAD/GIS software and data preferred but not required
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products including Microsoft Teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a government background investigation
- This position is a civilian position
Additional Customer Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to analyze Gov’t software implementations to understand business processes and recommend enhancements
- Integrate various software packages to reach novel solutions which streamline operations and enhance data auditability and effectiveness
- Experience with enterprise web application development using .NET (C# and ASP)
- Ability to work with core SharePoint features i.e., site collection/ site settings and configuration; document libraries & lists; classic & modern sites and pages; classic and SPFx webparts; workflows; content type; metadata; taxonomy; search; user administration
