This position is responsible for all areas of US income tax compliance for US and foreign entities as well as GAAP and Statutory income tax provisions. The position will work on projects as needed including state income tax filings. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the function. Operates with no supervision in a complex environment.
Schedule & Location:
This position is based in Johnston, RI and follows a hybrid work model. 50% of work is to be completed on-site in Johnston while 50% of work can be completed remotely. Mondays and Tuesdays are required to be worked on-site, weekly.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and filing of the consolidated federal income tax returns, including workpapers to support positions taken on return upon audit.
- Prepares analyses and schedules to support calculation of global tax provision.
- Prepares reports and supporting financial information to respond to accounting management’s information needs as well as requests by outside auditors.
- Contributes to the development of functional strategy; leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
- Tax research and correspondence with tax authorities.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting
Highly Preferred Education:
- Master’s degree in taxation
- Professional certification (CPA)
Required Work Experience:
- 5-7 years’ experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax experience
Highly Preferred Work Experience:
- Insurance industry experience and/or Big 4 Accounting experience
Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of general accounting principles
- Deep knowledge of federal and state tax issues
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with financial systems and standard software applications (e.g. PeopleSoft; Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word)
The hiring range for this position is $97,500-$140,100 USD. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience.
