ABOUT THE ROLE

• Install, configure, and maintain necessary systems hardware for high availability of the network.
• Install new software releases, system upgrades and patching.
• Perform system backups and recovery of all operational devices.
• Design, implement, build, deploy, and maintain configuration management systems.
• Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.
• Provide continuous 24x7 L2-L4 systems support of Transit Wireless.
• Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company, evaluating new technologies as appropriate and required and staying up to date on the latest industry trends.
• Be able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently.
• Work directly with the Systems team and team manager to ensure systems integrity, help monitor and evaluate network performance metrics using Zabbix and improve infrastructure development.
• Able to provide support with systems incidents and troubleshooting system reliability issues
• Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects.
• Document and design various processes; update existing processes.
• Provide technical guidance and educate team members and co-workers on systems operations.
• Assist in administration, maintenance, development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of information and availability of system.
• Provide excellent customer support to existing and potential customers.
• Troubleshoot Linux based DNS and DHCP servers.
• Understand, accept, and comply with responsibilities for information security.
• Take due care to maintain information security at work and whilst teleworking.
• Positive participation in information security training Acknowledge that use of information and systems may be logged.
• Report all information security incidents, risks, and concerns promptly.
• Provide positive support for the achievement of ISMS objectives.
• Care and protection of assigned assets e.g., laptops, phones.
• Keep authentication details for their accounts secret and confidential.

ABOUT YOU

• 7+ years' experience in systems engineering.
• 5+ years' experience of strong analytical skills and familiarity with Agile workflow methodologies.
• 5+ years' experience with network automation, Linux infrastructures and relational database (especially SQL), scripting such as Python, Perl, Linux shell.
• 5+ years' experience with infrastructure monitoring solutions, such as Nagios, OpenNMS, and Zabbix.
• 5+ years' experience with hypervisors (KVM, VMWare, Xen), storage technologies: ceph, zfs, nfs, etc.
• 5+ years' experience administering and deploying DevOps tools such as GitLab, Ansible Tower/AWX, etc.
• 5+ years' experience with infrastructure management solutions such as Ansible, Terraform, Nomad, etc.
• 5+ years' experience with infrastructure development, or development and operations.
• Understanding of ticketing and documentation systems such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong understanding of Cloud technologies such as AWS.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux based DNS (Bind) and DHCP.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP suite and understanding of all layers of OSI model.
• Knowledge of VPN technologies for establish site to site connectivity, 802.1x. authentication/accounting and understanding of RADIUS protocol.

Nice to have:

• Some knowledge of the following network protocols: BGP, MPLS, TCP/IP, BFD, Q-in-Q, Multicast Routing, QoS.
• Wireless knowledge of IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax.
