JBS International, Inc., a North Bethesda health and human services consulting firm, seeks a mixed methods Research Associate II to join a fast-paced multidisciplinary research team to conduct health and behavioral health-related research and evaluation for Federal (e.g., Health Resources and Services Administration) and other clients. The Research Associate II leads data preparation and data analysis for research and evaluation projects. In this capacity, the RAII works with senior staff to manage Research Assistants and Research Associates working on statistical tasks. These tasks include sampling, weighting, data management, statistical analysis, developing reports and presentation. The RAII proactively seeks out ways to support clients and project teams by identifying and proposing appropriate solutions and services that can be provided by JBS. The RAII actively cultivates long-term relationships with existing clients and partners and seeks out potential new relationships by managing projects with excellence and providing consistently excellent customer service. The RAII engages in a process of continuous commitment to excellent client relations, as focus on these relationships is one of the primary strategic roles of the position across all areas of work. The RAII is responsible for collaborating with senior staff and model an excellent approach to teamwork.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Literature reviews and synthesizes information
  • Data collection - coordination, monitoring, tracking; train research assistants in data collection administration
  • Data collection - qualitative (e.g., leads interviews)
  • Data collection - quantitative (survey, secondary data sets, abstraction)
  • Data analysis - intermediate/complex descriptive –
    • Access queries, Excel formulas
    • statistical programming, data manipulation (e.g., merging, demonstrate moderate to advance proficiency in statistical modeling using statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, SPSS) OR show moderate to advance proficiency in qualitative data analysis such as contribute to coding qualitative data, data visualization using Atlas.ti, Dedoose, etc.
  • Develops data visualization and infographics
  • Writes and identifies graphics for reports and other deliverables development of client-ready written materials (e.g., contribute to reports, prepare charts and tables, PowerPoint)
  • Leads the preparation of client-ready written materials (e.g., issue briefs, case studies, and other materials to convey study findings, best practices, and recommendations) designed to communicate information clearly in a manner tailored to the intended audiences.
  • Database programmer - programs surveys (e.g., Alchemer) including logic and validation
  • Designs data collection instruments and protocols (e.g., interviews, surveys, data collection process plans, communication plans)
  • Participates in evaluation/analytic design
  • Data analysis - inferential statistics, simulations using advanced statistical programming
  • Data analysis -Qualitative - codebook development, code data, write up debriefs or assist with data visualization using Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA) software, such as Atlas.ti, Dedoose, etc.
  • Database manager - designs data bases, responsible for reviewing data quality, data cleaning, harmonization
  • Oversees survey administration including recruiting, training and supervising survey workers/interviewers
  • Implementation of survey sampling, knowledge of data science, SQL data analysis, ability to implement calculation of complex sampling weights
  • Survey Manager Quant or Qual Data collection training, data collector management, and quality assurance
  • Study design/methodologist (sampling, weighting)
  • Manages project budgets, schedules, and staffing
  • Develops, monitors, and manages tasks and deliverables for contract compliance
  • May assist in business development activities


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master’s Degree in public health-related field (e.g., Sociology, Statistics, Education, Social Sciences, Community Psychology) and 5 years of experience comprising of 3 years of focus experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of experience comprising of 3 years of focus experience.

Skills: Strong problem solving, analysis, communication, and teamwork skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to write clearly and concise copy with attention to detail and target audience focus.

Language: English fluency (oral and written)

Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

LOCATION: North Bethesda or Remote


PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Software Proficiency: Proficiency with qualitative data software (e.g., ATLAS.ti).

Knowledge: Understanding of maternal health and health center operations.
