Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Purpose: Lead R&D projects for innovative materials testing instruments

Position Description:

MMT is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with 7-10 years of experience to join their talented team committed to developing new commercial nondestructive material testing instruments. The Engineer will be responsible for leading research and development projects for new and existing portable mechanical test instruments. The candidate must demonstrate proven experience designing, building, and evaluating mechanical devices or prototypes and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in a consulting-type environment where strict adherence to budget and timeline was expected, and projects varied in scope. Candidates who enjoy prototyping, troubleshooting, and taking problems from initial concept to final packaged solution are encouraged to apply.

Skills Required:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• 7-10 years of proven experience with design from concept to final product through iterative prototyping
• Technical skills and knowledge of mechanical engineering including machine design
• Strong SolidWorks proficiency
• Experience setting up data acquisition and control systems for sensors and instrumentation
• Comfortable working with simple electronic circuits
• Experience project management

Responsibilities Include:

• Mechanical product design, material selection, CAD design and product drawings
• Experimentation design for new component evaluation, data collection, and reporting
• Managing design and testing projects ensuring on-time and on-budget deliverables
• Managing and coordinating product manufacturing, testing schedules, and vendors
• Managing and conducting assembly and testing of new products
• Supporting existing products and troubleshooting
• Occasional participation in engineering conferences
