Operate heavy construction equipment and/or tractor-trailer.
This position may be assigned to Trucking/Materials Division or any division as needed in Public Works.
$26.04 - $32.95 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting)

- Operate tractor-trailer, heavy and light construction or road maintenance equipment.
- Incumbent may have some lead worker responsibilities.
- Requires two years of operating tractor-trailer and/or heavy equipment operation.
- Advanced level of heavy equipment operations.
- This position must be proficient in the operation of a minimum of two pieces of heavy equipment.
- Required to be on call 24 hours for emergency/weather response.
- Must perform work in a courteous and safe manner.
- When contact with the public is required, the employee must maintain a courteous, helpful attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSE AND OTHER:
- Valid Colorado Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement required.
Required experience:
- Two years of equipment operation preferred.
Condition of Employment:
- Must have or be able to obtain MSHA (new miner or experienced miner) certification within first 12 months of employment if not certified upon hire.(On-the-job certification can be obtained.)
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Applicant must have a demonstrated proficiency in any two of the following pieces of equipment:

- Backhoe (smaller than a John Deere 510)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have a basic familiarity with and experience working with a variety of road construction, maintenance and repair equipment and materials.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Colorado Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement required. Must be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

The noise level in this work environment can reach sound levels up to 90 decibels requiring Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
