Senior Application Developer

Department: Information Technology
Reports to: Director IT Development
Pay Group: Exempt

Job Summary:
The Senior Application Developer is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of new software systems. This position is also responsible for keeping currently deployed in-house developed systems up to date, insuring they continue to meet all business, architectural and regulatory standards/requirements. In this role you will also be required to conduct feasibility studies on currently deployed systems, looking for opportunities to improve functionality, efficiency, and reduction of technical debt. While this role is managerial in nature, it is also expected to be hands-on in coding applications, adhere to all Gravity development standards, reporting and documentation, and mentor junior developers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Meeting with development managers to discuss software projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies for upgraded software systems.
• Designing new software programs, websites, and applications.
• Assigning tasks to junior developers such as coding, testing, debugging, and analytics.
• Writing advanced programming code.
• Reviewing updated software systems.
• Managing project timelines and tasks.
• Writing development reports.
• Creating technical documentation for new software programs.
• Training staff on software use

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Previous experience as a software programmer.
• Managerial experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of programming languages including but not limited to JavaScript, HTML, SQL, PHP, Ruby and Python.
• Expert knowledge of system frameworks including .NET, Git, React, Node, and GitHub.
• Expert Knowledge of the design and implementation of automated unit tests.
• Experience creating and maintaining databases.
• Experience working with Agile development technologies.
• Advanced project management skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or computer science.
• Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• 5+ years experience in a Senior Application Developer role.
• Experience working in Health Care preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
