SUMMARY:
Responsible for financial accounting, including financial statement review, month end close process, balance sheet review and reconciliations Horseshoe Baltimore.
JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Plans, directs, and coordinates the Financial Accounting functions for Horseshoe Baltimore
- Plans, supervises, and assists the team in performing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting processes to properly record, classify and control financial transactions
- Reviews, audits, and prepares journal entries
- Responsible for the timely preparation and interpretation of all financial information, including financial statements, system ledgers, and other reports as required
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance Teams to gather and report financial information
- Collaborate with Property Analytics to gather and report forecast and budget information
- Capable of multitasking while adhering to internal or external operational and financial deadlines
- Ensure financial information and education is presented to Operators including financial systems training
- Responds to the needs of Property Management at all levels for special reports and interpretation of financial results and related systems, as well as potential problem areas
- Accepts responsibility for the implementation of new system applications and recommends enhancement to existing and new systems
- Establishes and maintains strong accounting controls sufficient to ensure compliance with the regulation and mandates of all governing bodies, both internal and external
- Establishes acceptable accounting procedures in revenue recognition and expense accruals sufficient to effectively control the assets of the company
- Assures timely responses to internal and external audit recommendations. Assures that corrective action plans are developed and implemented where needed
- Advises operators on best practices and partners with them to develop solutions to achieve the goals of the business
- Monitor, track, and report and track capital expenditures/projects spend
- Identify compliance risks and take actions necessary to eliminate or minimize risks.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting along with additional tasks and duties, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree with a major in Accounting or equivalent experience
- Five or more years of accounting or related experience, preferably in the gaming or hospitality industry, with one or more years in a supervisory capacity.
- Knowledge of computer software; MS Excel, Oracle, Ariba, Stratton Warren, CMS, LMS, Access, Project, and Infinium
- Familiarity of state regulations
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles
