PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Accounting Senior will analyze and present information and support the team with data, systems, and processes related to the accounting function. Focus areas include financial reporting, revenue and compensation, program analysis and internal controls. Attention to detail, careful self-review, and a hands-on, team-oriented, collaborative approach as well as enthusiasm for our mission are integral to this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support decision making on important programs, by collecting and analyzing data from Salesforce and QuickBooks Online. Review and make recommendations for program modifications
  • Contribute to benchmarking and monitoring of key metrics
  • Prepare presentations for the staff and board of directors
  • Ability to present complex information in a simple, easy to understand manner
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for IT, working on dashboard reports, checking for accuracy in calculations, postings, and reports using the appropriate methods
  • Be responsible for payroll systems and processing. Includes bi-weekly review and coordination with outsourced payroll firm, related system maintenance/monitoring, audit, compliance, accounting entries, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Act as the primary internal point of contact coordinating with HR, the benefits group, and accounting for payroll and benefits related matters. Ensure change management and data integrity across systems.
  • Update board materials and support projects, as assigned for the team and the board of directors
  • Help the team comply with internal processes and controls
  • Assist the team with month-end close and reconcile assigned accounts and systems
  • Collaborate with the team responding to internal and external customers
  • Contribute by being a team player and maintaining a culture of excellence
  • Identify and suggest improvements that could drive efficiency
  • Participate in recurring team and one-on-one meetings
  • Exercise judgement, tact, and diplomacy

  • Technical acumen. Regular and proficient use of Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping support required
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, and/or enterprise systems a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the team as well as independently
  • Professional appearance and the attitude and personality to effectively deal with board members, donors, volunteers, and community members

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel occasionally if needed, both locally and nationally

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 2-5 years in a public accounting firm, auditing area
  • CPA or MBA preferred
