Seismic Imaging Analyst

We are looking for talented Geophysicists to join our Imaging teams based in Houston, TX.

Position Summary
With PGS’ Imaging team, you will learn to use seismic signal processing, velocity model building and various imaging techniques to create 3D images of the Earth’s subsurface. You will experiment with various geophysical concepts using state-of-the-art software and cloud based high-performance computing applications to ensure a high-quality product.

Working as part of a team, emphasis will be on taking ownership of assigned tasks, managing day-to-day operations of large and complex projects, providing optimal quality control, identifying problems, and defining ideal solutions. Our Imaging personnel work closely with other units in PGS, including the New Energy department and our Research team to develop new innovative solutions.

We offer a set of training courses through our Learning and Development department that will guide you through the curriculum for each position level during the first 5 years with PGS. Following the basic training the career in PGS will branch out to be either technical or managerial within the Imaging department (potentially internationally and/or offshore), or you can apply for a position in another unit within the company.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical background that is interested in the science of the earth coupled with big data, signal processing, teamwork and client interaction.

Main Tasks

  • Processing of seismic data, including testing, quality control and production work
  • Manage big data and cloud compute
  • Work closely with internal and external clients
  • Generate intermediate and final deliverables
  • Attend internal and external meetings
  • Communicate and present results

Required qualifications

  • Recent or future graduates (2022 to 2023 preferred) with a MSc or a PhD within geology, geophysics, physics, mathematics or related technical or engineering disciplines
  • B.Sc. degree holders may also apply
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn
  • Team player with strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills
