SUMMARY:
Summary:
The Security Officer is the front line position within the Security Department. This position provides a safe and secure environment for patients, guests, and employees through continuous patrolling. Under general direction of the Security Director, Senior Lieutenant, Sergeant, and/or Corporal, the Security Officer helps ensure that the diverse organization will provide security functions which are fundamental to both the conduct of operations and the achievement of the hospital’s operational objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Cooperates in testing new security techniques and equipment to make recommendations of review to Supervisor.
  • Inspects and evaluates condition of assigned areas of hospital.
  • Makes recommendations as to improving safety and security.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how to handle hazardous waste safely and appropriately, following safety rules and guidelines.
  • Tours assigned hospital areas to ensure all instructions and safety rules are followed.
  • Assists in directing and controlling work flow of security.
  • Completes all required reports in a timely manner.
  • Rounds internally on the main campus, ancillary building, and parking lots.
  • Provides security service to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as well as the visitors, physicians, and hospital employees.
  • Responds to service or incident calls.
  • Monitors Patients.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
  • Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
OTHER INFORMATION:
* Work experience in security or related field preferred.
