The Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,000 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.

Located northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Our “backyard” is the scenic Skykomish River and Cascade Mountains. Sultan School District includes the community of Sultan, Startup, and Gold Bar. Students from Index attend Sultan High School.

Under the direction of the Principal, is responsible for applying general skills supporting the secondary educational process. This position may include, but not be limited to, the following performance responsibilities, qualifications, knowledge, skills and abilities.
Essential Functions:
Depending upon need, the Security Monitor performs and assists all or a combination of the following duties:
- Supervises the high school restrooms, campus, and adjacent areas of the high school campus as directed by the school administrator
- Communicates infractions to the appropriate school administrator
- Enhances the security and safety of the campus under the school jurisdiction as directed by the school administrator
- Assists school staff in monitoring student behavior expectations and standards
- Remains visible throughout the day in assigned areas of the school campus
- Greets and screens visitors for proper safety protocols
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, FORMAL TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Safe Schools Training
- Experience working with youths
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of District and building rules and policies relating to student behavior
- Ability to stand in one location for extended periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs and walk long distances during a regular work shift
- Ability to use good judgment

MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Experiences frequent interruptions.
- Exposed to infectious diseases carried by students.
- Exposed to student noise levels.
- Occasional to frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- May be required to be on feet for extended periods of time or sit for extended periods of time.

The recommended applicant, if not a current employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility.
Disclosure Statement and Background Check
Pursuant to Chapter 43.43, Washington Laws of 1990, the recommended applicant will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he/she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol.
