JOB SUMMARY
Characteristics of the Class:
To assist the saw operator in cutting material to specific measurements to fill customer needs. To perform other tasks as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To assist the saw operator in setting up the table for cutting the material.
2. To assist in cutting the material to meet the needs of the customer. (Example: hand loading or offloading material)
3. Fill in as a backup Saw Operator as needed.
4. To check the cut made by the saw and overall quality of the product.
5. Maintain the hopper for collection of offal.
6. To place or deliver the cut material to the designated area.
7. Change collection bags on the dust collector
8. Operate platform lift.
9. Operate forklift.
10. Regular Attendance Required.
Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the Finishing Department and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
- Knowledge of the finished product types, finishes, and patterns.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to operate machinery in a comfortable and safe manner.
- Ability to enter data on the saw interface (computer)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or GED
EXPERIENCE:
One year of work experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy work. Tasks involves pushing / pulling of material up to 75 lbs, lifting up to 75 lbs from the floor to shoulder level, carrying up to 20 lbs and standing and walking during a minimum ten hour shift. Ability to work around and move across uneven work surfaces.
ENVIRONMENT:
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
