Sales Engineer I Job at PEBCO Inc
Position Summary:
Maintains daily contact with customers/potential customers and manufacturing reps; estimates project costs and prepares quotes; reviews specs and prepares New Equipment and Spare Parts orders for production.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reviews application data forms and specifications to develop and prepare cost estimates for PEBCO products, including New Equipment and Spare Parts. Provides formal quotations to customers.
- Obtains pricing from applicable vendors and fabrication shop for quote preparation of PEBCO products, including New Equipment and Spare Parts. Purchases and prepares orders to applicable Vendors to fill customer needs timely and accurately; accurately records related transactions into integrated manufacturing software.
- Maintains and develops existing and new customers through individual account support and serving as liaison with manufacturing representatives; obtains necessary information pertinent to projects; conducts field visits and sales calls as needed.
- Achieves operational objectives by accepting ownership for the success of assigned sales projects from initiation through completion, including contributing information and recommendations; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change; maintains up-to-date job knowledge and completes production & cost audits. Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
- Reviews customer purchase orders to ensure consistency with file/specifications; enters work orders in integrated manufacturing software; forwards work orders to fabrication facility for production.
- Forwards sales leads to representatives on projects in their territories; follows up on representative “Buy” and “Tickle” lists routinely for possible orders.
- Provides technical training and support to manufacturing representatives.
- Develops Cost Analysis sheets for PEBCO manufactured equipment to determine labor costs and files analysis in the job file in preparation for fabrication.
- Assists/fills in for other employees/departments as needed.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to perform engineering based calculations, computer proficiency, punctuality. Must have ability to effectively manage time over multiple projects.
Perferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors in related engineering discipline or Business Administration and/or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and intellectual instruction.
- Ability to read hydraulics, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
- 1-2 years of similar level sales experience, customer service experience, and appropriate technical background.
- Experience in material handling systems and equipment or simular industry.
- Formal training in 2D & 3D CAD and/or 1 year experience 2D & 3D CAD.
