Safety Specialist

Auriga Polymers Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Indorama Ventures PLC is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our team. The Safety Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting the site in identifying and mitigating general safety hazards and risks throughout the facility. This role serves as the lead safety trainer and will be responsible for updating plant safety training modules, providing live safety training sessions for new hires as assigned. The Safety Specialist serves as program owner and technical resource for numerous safety programs, initiatives and serves as a dedicated field safety resource for JHA’s, JSA’s safe work and critical life permits, incident investigations and general hazard/risk reviews.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Conduct all business activities lawfully and with integrity. Raise issues or concerns through the appropriate supervision and lead by example.
  • Stay current on regulatory developments in program areas.
  • Ensure relevant training to team members
  • Complete applicable EHS Compliance Calendar items in a timely manner as assigned
  • Be part of the active- duty rotation.
  • Cross train with the Senior Safety Engineer so both roles can adequately support and back-up one another
  • Provide back-up EHS support for issuing of Safe Work and Life Critical permits as well as emergency calls on weekends.
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of the plant and serve as area resource to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigation of risk.
  • Manage the EHS incident tracking system. Ensure that incidents are entered, and action items documented in a timely manner. Follow-up with PPR’s and drive completion of safety related action items.
  • Lead the Plant Behavior Based Safety Process – SOAR
  • Assist with weekly new hire orientations
  • Prepare, present, and support the site’s required safety trainings
  • Participate in JHA’s.
  • Complete compliance self-assessments, procedure reviews, and other initiative per EHS Operations Plan
  • Complete all assigned safety inspections/audits
  • Support new project activities and on-site joint venture as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years (plus) of safety manufacturing experience.
  • Degree in Occupational Safety or relative degree or experience
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively to upper management
  • Detailed Oriented

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
