Job Summary

Ferguson Construction is looking for a Safety Coordinator/Manager to work in the Columbus Office to join the Safety Team. The Safety Coordinator/Manager will help oversee all safety operations in the Columbus Office and help as needed in the other three Ferguson Offices. The candidate must have experience in the construction industry and possess a desire for growth with excellent self-motivation.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform and document job site safety audits
  • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stock
  • Assist field in frequently changing job site conditions
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Perform/write job hazard analysis
  • Conduct new-hire orientations and train employees on SOP’s and SWP’s.
  • Lead incident investigations
  • Write job site specific safety plans
  • Attend peer group meetings/discussions
  • Appraising performance
  • Work independently, performing tasks and completing goals and project needs.
  • Proficient writing and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with management and field personnel.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist other safety members on an as—needed basis (Indiana, Dayton & Columbus Projects)
  • Continually audit Ferguson safety controls to keep up with the changing industry.

Travel: This job will be based out of the Columbus, OH office but must be able to assist in Sidney, OH, Dayton, OH, and Greenfield, IN office(s) as necessary. Travel pay reimbursement will be provided or a company vehicle will be provided.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management or closely related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Office, Procore preferred.
  • CHST, OHST, GSP, ASP, CSP preferred

The Safety Manager/Coordinator will need to complete OSHA 510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry after 3 months of on the job experience. In the future, when prequalification’s are met, this person will be required to take the OSHA 500 to become an OSHA Outreach Instructor to teach the OSHA 10 & 30 for Construction. They will also need to obtain credentials through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a CHST or OHST (after 3 years of experience)
