We are seeking an experienced safety coordinator who is passionate about ensuring the safety of our members and customers. As our safety coordinator, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements and industry standards. You will work closely with members at all levels of the organization to promote a safety culture and give expert advice on matters related to safety.


Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the Safety Department and manage the schedule and day-to-day responsibilities of future safety member(s) within the department based on institutional knowledge and company culture.
  • Lead the development, creation, and implementation of onsite and infield safety training while working collaboratively with business unit leaders to assess and prioritize needs, as well as tracking trends and safety issues company-wide.
  • Manage compliance with all related governmental and safety regulators, including but not limited to: Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.
  • Perform/oversee applicable in-house training on a regular and annual basis, as needed (OSHA training, onboarding, DOT, aerial lifts, crane and rigging training, fit testing, etc.)
  • Investigate and pursue any pertinent grant monies or cost-saving measures (i.e. transitional work grant, safety-specific grant opportunities).
  • Manage the company’s workers’ compensation account, including both the administrative component as well as the member support piece, to ensure we fully service the claim to both minimize risk when possible, but also support the member and return them to service after appropriate care has been rendered.
  • Track both safety trends and costs associated with WC claims and provide monthly reports.
  • Direct accident investigations.
  • Communicate across business units to create alignment.
  • Understand and assist with site-specific issues while advising on provisions to minimize safety risks.
  • Adhere to company work safety policies.
  • Other miscellaneous duties, as assigned

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Although weekends and nights are not part of the specific schedule, because we have three divisions that work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, there may be occasions where work is needed, both proactively and reactively.


Travel:

  • The position will require occasional overnight travel.
  • Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Possess OSHA 30 (500 preferred)
  • Experience with Workers’ Comp
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a Related Field
  • 2-3 years in the field and/or a minimum of 5 years of construction project experience
  • Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations that impact the company, including: OSHA, NFPA, EPA State and local laws and ordinances
  • Fall Protection Background
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and an aptitude for learning new applications
  • Travel as needed, up to 40%
