Designer, manufacturer, and installer of precision roller and tension levelers, CTL lines, slitting lines, inspection lines for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals in coil form. Manufacturing of new capital processing equipment and rebuilding of levelers and processing equipment. Field service, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering. In-house engineering and feasibility studies. Rebuild and repair miscellaneous mill equipment for hot mills and cold mills and processing lines. Centerless grinding process rolls, straightener/journal repair and chrome plating service for processing equipment. Standard rolls, high abrasion rolls and rolls for more than 100,000 yield.
The Role
Under the direction of Plant Manager , the Roll Checker Straightener is responsible to set up and operate the straightening presses in straightening and checking rolls and packing rolls for shipment.
Requirements
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items
§ Receives drawings and instructions from Plant Manager
§ Uncrates and checks rolls for reconditioning for cracks and imperfections and straightens if required.
§ Loads rolls on straightening presses with the floor operation overhead crane or jib crane, or manually as required.
§ Straightens bars for new rolls after sawing if required before rough grinding.
§ Straightens semi-finished rolls after heat treating if required.
§ Checks completed reground rolls and new rolls for sizes as per drawing or sketch from instructions.
§ Sprays rolls with rust preventative, wraps in shipping paper and packs in box for shipping.
§ Maintains presses and area in a clean and orderly manner.
Knowledge
§ Requires the simple use of drawings, specifications, and the use of adjustable measuring devices.
