Roaster Job at Trilliant Food
Position Summary:
The Roaster role entails roasting all the companies coffee product to support operations, while supporting the ingredient blending equipment. The roaster is responsible for ensuring efficient and safe machine operation, producing high quality product and performing preventative maintenance; completing paperwork and data entry; assisting in grinding area and cross-training on other roasting duties; coordinating production scheduling or BOM changes; keeping roasting area clean and orderly, and assisting in providing training or direction to other cross-functional departments.
Hours are 2-2-3 schedule 6pm-6am at our Little Chute location.
Responsibilities Include:
- Understand and perform proper coffee roasting operation processes and procedures including operating roasting and other production equipment
- Participate in product “cupping” process to inspect for quality and overall coffee flavor profile
- Keeping the roasting area clean, organized, and orderly
- Inspecting equipment, performing preventative maintenance and working with maintenance as needed
- Ensuring compliance with Quality, Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and other company policies or requirements
- Completing paperwork is filled out in a timely fashion
- Coordinating any production scheduling or BOM changes across functions
- Attend production meetings
- Continuously improve processes and assist with troubleshooting and communicating issues or opportunities
- Assist in packaging area or helping produce finished product as needed
- Utilize computer for product and data information management and data entry including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Responsible for notifying QA/QC of any observed or reported product quality issues so that appropriate action may be taken
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education is a plus.
- 1+ years coffee roasting, food production and/or machine operating experience
- Good knowledge of and/or passion for learning about coffee
- Strong general mechanical abilities and troubleshooting skills
- Strong understanding of customer service philosophy and procedures
- Self-directed and personally motivated
- Good team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Good attendance and performance track record.
- Ability to interact positively and persuasively with internal and external customers
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of food safety and food quality standards is a plus
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
