Resident Assistant- ILS Housing
Seasonal Position
As our live-in RA you will have the opportunity to establish therapeutic relationships with the young people we serve. Imagine teaching independent living skills and providing an environment that is growth-producing and which stimulates self-confidence and autonomy! The young adults in the program will look to you to provide emotional support to promote more normative behavior and to help them achieve a greater amount of life satisfaction and a sense of self-respect! Our goal is to help youth become adults who are able to contribute to society and meet life situations adequately and in a personally satisfying way. Where youth would otherwise be left entirely on their own at age 18, supportive independent living gives them the opportunity to practice life skills while backup supports such as guidance.

Status: Seasonal; approximately until July 2023
Hours: Up to 10 hours a week
Location: Apartments located on Burton Ave.

What you’ll be doing:
- Acts as the primary decision-maker relative to facility emergencies after hours.
- Monitoring the youths’ activities and behaviors in the apartments overnight, responding to emergencies, and writing a shift report.
- Reflect a positive image as a role model demonstrating appropriate behavior and actions.
- Teaching independent living skills, and provide an environment that is growth-producing, while restoring self-confidence and autonomy.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with the clients we serve.
- The building has a capacity of 10 youth – (either males or females ages 16-24. They are placed in individual apartments at a clustered site with the case manager (transition facilitator).
What you need:
- High School Diploma/or equivalent required.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with clients in the program.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, primarily overnight.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Have a valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance with no more than 5 points on your motor vehicle report, and with no DUI/OVI violations.
- Pass a criminal background check, along with drug screen.
