Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The College of Information Studies engages in groundbreaking research to meet human needs through information and technology for good. We seek applications for a full time coordinator of operations with interest and experience in working with researchers.
This coordinator will be based in the College’s Associate Dean for Research’s unit. As part of a team led by the research support manager, the coordinator’s responsibilities will extend throughout the College. They will provide infrastructure and manage operations and communications for diverse College-based individual researchers, teams, labs, and centers. The coordinator must maintain a professional and positive demeanor and handle sensitive and confidential matters independently and with discretion and tact. The coordinator must retain flexibility in accepting assignments and have the ability to work independently on multiple tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree at time of appointment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience:
One year of experience in research, research support, or professional experience in management or administrative work involving interaction with customers or other stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced skills in SQL, WordPress, Zoom, and Microsoft Office, and ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze complex databases, spreadsheets and reports.
  • Ability to take initiative, analyze problems, prepare and articulate solutions.
  • A demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated diplomacy.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and multi-task on projects with overlapping deadlines, and to follow protocols and procedures.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, campus administrators, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group on complex assignments.
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Coursework or degree in information science, human computer interaction, library and archival science, information technology, information systems, or an area related to the College’s research areas.
  • Research or professional experience related to the College’s research areas.
  • Experience in event planning and management.
  • Experience creating content (i.e., emails, web content, newsletters).
  • Graduate degree.
  • Experience in higher education administration.
