Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the critical input into creation and implementation of Relocation, temporary and permanent, procedures, forms, marketing materials, reporting tools, and regular reports;
  • Works in conjunction with the Property Management Operations, Office of Capital Programs and other relevant departments related to the development of goals and implementation plans for public housing redevelopment or rehabilitation activities.Incumbent will coordinate establishment of goals and implementation plans
  • Responsible for conducting resident and participant one-on-one and group discussions to access or utilize available housing resources within public housing or the Housing Choice Voucher Program as part of temporary or permanent relocation;
  • Responsible for assisting with the tracking and outreach to former public housing residents to offer them the opportunity to return to redeveloped public housing sites as available;
  • Works with required DCHA staff to accomplish tasks and goals of the renovation or rehabilitation projects and activities;
  • Responsible for delivering high quality relocation assistance to diverse clientele and delivering temporary and permanent relocation services;
  • Reviews tracking system to ensure that LIPH residents moved off footprint of public housing sites are properly informed about redevelopment as required by federal and local regulations;
  • Participates in DCHA community-wide relocation efforts and events;
  • Makes presentations at community meetings;
  • Ensures that the relocation/occupancy plan for HUD Demolition/Disposition Application sites are properly developed;
  • Ensures resident ballots and other resident engagement required activities (for DDA approvals) are properly developed and sent to each resident on site;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, management, communications, social work, or urban planning social work; and at least (5) five years of direct experience working to assist public housing and/or HCVP participants to obtain and/or maintain housing assistance using government resources; and experience in case management; or the equivalent combination of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications requirement may be substituted.


The District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) conducts pre-employment screening on specified positions, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, verification of academic credentials, licenses, and certifications, and/or verification of work history.


This position has been designated by the department to require a drug and alcohol screening and background check. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and will be required to consent to a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment.


Technical Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have strong knowledge of the use of personal computers and computer software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook, etc.; and must be able to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.
