Job Summary:
Overview
The Disneyland Resort (DLR) Risk Management Services team is comprised of Guest Claims and Workers’ Compensation. As member of the Risk Management team, you will play a critical role in supporting the work of these teams, especially the Workers’ Compensation team.
The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist serves as a liaison for the injured Cast Member, Operations leader(s), DLR Casting team, and Workers’ Compensation Claims Representative by facilitating the accommodation of a Cast Member with medical restrictions due to a workplace injury and ensuring they are placed in roles with tasks that are commensurate with that Cast Member’s abilities. Key responsibilities include evaluating the Cast Member’s medical restrictions and abilities, attempting to assist the Cast Member with placement into a role with essential duties that Cast Member is capable of performing, and considering the Cast Member’s skills, abilities, competencies, interests, experience and education.
This position will work on-site at the Disneyland Resort for a minimum of 4 days per week. There may be an opportunity to work remotely on the 5th work day, depending on the needs of the business. The typical work schedule for this role will be Monday – Friday, during standard business hours; in additional there may be a need for occasional early morning/late evening/weekend hours to accommodate meetings with Cast Members, per their availability.
Responsibilities
Facilitate and document the interactive process by conducting meetings (both virtually and in person) with the Cast Member and their area leadership, providing: (1) an opportunity for the injured Cast Member to offer suggestions they may have regarding modification(s) they might need based on their work restrictions, and (2) an opportunity for the area leadership to determine if any suggested modifications can be made.
Perform job shadows with Cast Members who have workers’ compensation claims to facilitate the successful return to work/stay at work process.
Perform job analyses – detailed functional job descriptions – to serve as documentation to share with Cast Member, operations leadership, and if needed, with the Cast Member’s physician to determine whether the Cast Member can perform a specific role.
Complete reviews for modification with Cast Members who have the potential to remain working in their original/home location. Provide professional guidance regarding job modifications, return to work, and other vocational issues to facilitate successful workers’ compensation claim outcomes for injured Cast Members.
Complete initial assessment interviews with injured Cast Members and produce detailed vocational reports to be used in efforts to return Cast Members to their original role or re-cast them to a new role following an occupational injury.
Educate injured Cast Members regarding their injury, the return-to-work process, and workers’ compensation laws.
Assist injured Cast Members with resume preparation, interviewing skills, job/role identification, and referrals for open positions.
Review all claims on scheduled diary calendar as documented in departmental Operating Guidelines.
Partner with and mentor workers’ compensation claims representatives on all aspects of the vocational rehabilitation process.
Complete required continuing education classes to maintain certification and professional licenses.
Establish and maintain partnerships with Legal, Health Services, Safety, and Risk Management peers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One or more of the following industry-recognized certifications: (1) Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); (2) Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS); or (3) Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM).
Extensive experience with psychological and physical disabilities, as well as underlying health conditions.
State-prescribed licensing and registration as a rehabilitation counselor.
Proactive communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills who can interface effectively at all levels of the company and can appropriately influence business results through negotiation, persuasion, and personal presence.
Ability to demonstrate and exercise excellent judgment where safety is the top priority.
Ability to deliver concise, but informative written summaries in memo and presentation format.
Ability to display and role model inclusive behaviors, showing respect for the value of the diverse viewpoints, culture, styles, and experience of people by creating an environment where everyone feels sincerely welcomed.
Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information.

Availability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours, as needed (eg, occasional early morning, late evening, or weekend meetings to accommodate Cast Member availability).

Master's degree in vocational or rehabilitation counseling or related field.
The hiring range for this position in CA is $92,742.00 to $124,410.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
