Stone is looking for a Part Time Recreation Assistant to join our team!

Description: Promote appropriate recreation programs within both the facility and the greater community. Carry out the recreation component within the structure of the day established for specific environments/populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate appropriate recreation programs that address the physical, cognitive, creative, emotional, spiritual, and/or social needs of the resident/patient population in a safe environment.
  • Assist with the development of specific recreation program topics. Ensure all appropriate and necessary supplies are available at time of delivery of service.
  • Ensure proper pre- and post-program set-up of environment.
  • Assist with transportation of residents/patients to and from program locations.
  • Assist with training new recreation staff members.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: * Must have high school diploma and communicate effectively in English through verbal and written means.

  • Must be in good mental and physical condition and willing to work with residents.
  • Must possess ability to cooperate and motivate staff.
  • Prefer some training in arts and crafts.
  • Must have an understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the residents.
  • Must have the ability to plan and organize recreation programs under the direct supervision of the Recreation Director.
  • Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm and a cheerful disposition and be able to handle residents based on the maturity level under which they are currently functioning.
  • Completion of the facility’s Alzheimer’s Training Course.
  • Must attend mandatory staff meetings
