     POSITION OVERVIEW:
    
The Receptionist/Case Manager Assistant is primarily responsible for greeting clients coming into or calling our office as well as assisting Case Manager to those experiencing homelessness and/or are at imminent risk of becoming homeless. These services encompass Supportive Service programs administered by Community Housing and Shelter Services. He/She is employed by the Community Housing and Shelter Services and is directly responsible to the Executive Director and Program Manager.
 
    
This position requires a sensitive and caring individual who is able to develop trust with our clients. He/She must be willing to work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds, allow flexibility in their work and work within a team approach.
 
    
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 
    Greet & Sign in Clients 
    
 
    Schedule appointments 
    
 
    Handle incoming calls and checking voicemails 
    
 
    Filling 
    
 
    Maintain a clean and friendly area for clients 
    
 
    Data Entry 
    
 
    Interview clients for services 
    
 
    Coordinate intake and individualize needs assessments, interviewing Participants to develop short and long-term goals that address barriers to obtain services and housing 
    
 
    Provide assessment of needs identifies and defines problem areas and assists clients in the problem solving process 
    
 
    Provide advocacy, information, and referrals to families/individuals as necessary 
    
 
    Provide direct services to meet such basic needs as shelter, food and clothing 
    
 
    Prepare correspondence as needed for clients 
    
 
    Maintain regular contact with property owners, apartment managers and realtors for current available housing 
    
 
    Develop and organize a file with names, address, and telephone number on housing availability 
    
 
    Conduct all aspect of work with complete courtesy and respect to clients 
    
 
    Maintain daily records and reports of client contacts and services provided 
    
 
    Work collaboratively with providers and community-based organizations 
    
 
    Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times 
    
 
    Provide supportive services in a culturally-responsive and non-judgmental manner using a strengths-based approach 
    
 
    Other duties as assigned 
    
 
    
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
    Understand and promote the Vision/Mission Statement of Community Housing and Shelter Services 
    
 
    Interpret and explain programs to Participants 
    
 
    Ability to work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds 
    
 
    Ability to learn resources in the community in order to provide information and referral services to meet client needs 
    
 
    Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in order to present findings and recommendations to individuals and groups. 
    
 
    Speak and write effectively and prepare written reports 
    
 
    Understand and be responsible to the needs of culturally diverse populations 
    
 
    Maintain accurate notes and updates 
    
 
    Maintain confidential information according to the legal standards and/or County regulations as required 
    
 
    
KNOWLEDGE:
 
    Community needs and resources. 
    
 
    Knowledge of emergency, disability, social, education, domestic violence, health, human services, and information/referral systems. 
    
 
    Principles of interviewing and problem-solving methodology. 
    
 
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    
 
    Excellent customer service skills. 
    
 
    A positive attitude that is flexible and adaptable to a changing environment. 
    
 
    Strong organizational skills. 
    
 
    
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 
    Computer experience; word processing and spreadsheet applications 
    
 
    Clerical/Secretarial experience LICENSE: 
    
 
    Must have a car for daily use, in-state insurance with your name on the policy. 
    
 
    Applicants must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License and remain free from repeatable preventable accidents. 
    
 
    
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
 
    Bilingual, Spanish 
    
 
    
COMPENSATION/SALARY:
 
    $16.45 per Hour
